In order for a pilot to fly aerobatics on their own, any organisation will ask for proof of having completed the AOPA (or equivalent) competence in aerobatics course.
The RAF Lyneham Flying Club is registered with AOPA as an aerobatic training organisation. Three of the instructors (Roger Milburn, Ian Churchill and Bob McPhee) are registered to teach the AOPA basic and standard aerobtics course. More details are available at the club.
Manoeuvres such as Loops, Barrel Rolls, Slow Rolls, Stall Turns, cuban 8s and spinning are all taught on the basic aerobatics course.
If you are interested, the AOPA Basic Aerobatics course is offered. You will need to acquire, and read, the book "Basic Aerobatics" By Campbell and Tempest, ISBN 1853101087. |
